Homage to the Irani Cafés of Bombay

All welcome for morning chai, hearty grills, and late-night feast.

In the old Bombay cafés, everyone sat together at marble-topped tables under lazy ceiling fans. We serve pasture-raised tandoor grills, whole-spice black daal cooked twenty-four hours, and fresh baked naan.

Our Story & Heritage

The old Irani cafés broke down barriers of class, creed, and background.

Opened by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran in the early 20th century, Bombay was once home to over 400 such cafés. They were the first public places where men and women from every walk of life sat together. Rich merchants sat beside impoverished students.

Today, fewer than thirty remain. Dishoom is our humble tribute to that enduring warmth, hospitality, and comfort food that defines the spirit of Bombay.
